Horsham Swim School do not recommend that you stop lessons until your child can swim 100meters, swim in clothing and tread water for 30 secounds.

Nearly 90% of parents tell us that they want their child to learn to swim to ensure that they are able to rescue themselves if they were to get into trouble. The problem isn’t when children start swimming lessons, it’s when they are taken out of lessons. Often this is before the child is a competent swimmer.

Horsham Swim Schools aim is to educate parents about new Swim England minimum competency standards. We believe that children should be able to meet these by the time they stop swimming lessons and to be a competent swimmer. Children should be able to

:-Perform a star float for 30 seconds

:-Treadwater for at least 30 seconds

:-Have experience of swimming in clothing

:-Swim at least 100 metres with ease and without stopping
